Program Overview

Monash University is located just 30 minutes outside Melbourne, one of Australia's most vibrant cities.  Monash is the largest university in Australia, with over 60,000 students. It is a member of Australia's "Group of Eight" which demonstrates its dedication to teaching and learning. It offers a wide range of coursework to the meet the needs of any student.


Please note: Exchange places fill up quickly and are based on a first-come, first-served basis. To assure there are placements available, please contact the study abroad coordinator for this program before applying. Only students who have turned in a complete application will reserve a spot for this program.

Monash University is located in Melbourne, Australia (pop. 3.5 million), a cultural and intellectual hub where painting, sculpture, theatre, ballet and opera thrive. Melbourne is also close to both bay and surf beaches. In winter, it is only a few hours drive to reach the ski slopes. Melbourne is a vibrant, hip and friendly city with a passionate spirit and a youthful outlook. It is one of the best cities in Australia for fashion, nightlife, music, comedy, eating-out, sports and events.


Students may live in residence halls on campus and also have the choice of off campus in flats or with families. The university campus is located 20 kilometers (about 20 minutes) from the Melbourne city center and offers excellent public transportation. Students can live in catered residence halls but also have the opportunity to cook for themselves. As well, buses and trains connect campus with multiple shopping centers, the city center, the beaches, and bohemian student hot spots.
